Plot
Sathyaraj plays the role of a middle aged man who hurriedly gets his daughter married off after suspecting her of friendship with a boy. Meanwhile he entangles in a precarious situation that last for a night. This particular night changes his outlook towards life.
Performances
Sathyaraj and Yugi Sethu are the only important characters in the film and both delivered what is required of them. Anumol impressed us as the call girl. And the guy playing Suri seems like a bit confused but it turns out that his character is such? Or is he really that good an actor.
Direction
This is Editor Antony’s first directorial venture. Having not watched the original version, it is hard to draw a comparison. But as a stand-alone product Oru Naal Iravil is a right fit. In the initial minutes, there is a sense of going nowhere but soon things fall into place and ‘what happens next?’ feel starts from there on. With limited characters and the action being confined to few places, it is the victory of good writing that keep us hooked. The item number too is cleverly fitted as part of the narrative. But the song in itself sticks out.
Overall Rating
Overall, Oru Naal Iravil is a good suspense drama in which writing is the winner. It is another film that can be welcomed with open arms.
